Me, Them, and Endometriosis: a meeting to transform information into support.

Yellow March 2026 marked another important chapter in raising awareness about endometriosis in Brazil. In the elegant setting of the Palácio Tangará in São Paulo, the event "Me, Them and Endometriosis" took place, a meeting created to bring science, medicine, and patients closer together in an environment of dialogue, learning, and hope. More than just a lecture, the event represented a movement in favor of the millions of women who live daily with a disease still surrounded by misinformation and late diagnoses.

Endometriosis needs to be understood in a new way.

For many years, endometriosis was explained simply as a disease caused by retrograde menstruation or summarized as the presence of "foci" scattered throughout the pelvis. Today, however, science is broadening this understanding. Throughout the meeting, modern concepts were presented that help to understand that endometriosis is much more complex than small superficial lesions. Aspects related to its predictable anatomical distribution, embryonic alterations in the development of Müllerian tissues, the chronic inflammatory process, fibrosis, pelvic nerve entrapment, and the systemic impact the disease can cause were discussed. This perspective allows us to understand why so many patients experience intense pain, urinary and bowel changes, infertility, and significant impairment of quality of life, even when imaging exams seem inconclusive.
